Solar Eclipse 2012

So.... Joel and I had Monday off of school and work. We decided to drive down to the Saint George area to try out our new camping gear we got for Christmas. We also wanted to watch the Solar Eclipse and Kanarraville, UT was the best place to see it.  We decided to camp 20 miles south of there at quail creek state park because they had a lake and we love the water! We headed down Sunday at 11:30 AM and arrived at 3:00 PM.

When we arrived we got one of the last camp sites. I think we totally lucked out because this was one of the nicest spots.

After we set up camp and put our feet in the water we decided to drive down the road five minutes so we could see the eclipse a little better.

Joel was so smart to pick up our cool eclipse glasses at the planetarium in Salt Lake before we left so we could see it without our eyes being burnt out of their sockets.

This is a picture without the glasses

This is what we saw while wearing them

Our shadows

It was crazy how pretty the lighting was when the moon was in the center of the sun.

After the eclipse we drove back to camp and made our foil dinners. After we ate we roasted marshmallows and talked under the stars. It was a great camp site with fun things to do and fantastic company! I would say our first camping experience this summer was a huge success! Thanks babe for the fun idea!
